Job Overview:

The Paralegal Officer will support the legal team in providing essential legal services across various ATS entities in Africa. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, offering advisory services, managing case files, and assisting in the establishment of new ATS entities. The Paralegal Officer will ensure compliance with local and international regulations, particularly in the mining and hospitality sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Research & Analysis:
  • Conduct research on legal precedents, statutes, regulations, and case law to support business activities across ATS entities in Africa.

  • Provide legal insights to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with local laws and international regulations, particularly in mining and hospitality sectors.

Document Drafting & Legal Support:
  • Draft and review legal documents such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), contracts, letters, shareholders' agreements, and other corporate documents.

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing legal documentation for various operational needs across multiple locations.

Advisory Services:
  • Provide practical legal guidance to operations, HR, and finance teams on everyday legal matters that arise across multiple ATS entities.

  • Advise on employee relations, contractual obligations, dispute resolution, and compliance with local and international laws.

Case Management & Legal Administration:
  • Manage case files, ensuring they are organized and up-to-date.

  • Maintain legal databases and ensure proper storage and access to legal documents.

  • Perform administrative tasks to support the legal team, including assisting with filings and document preparation.

Support for New Entity Establishment:
  • Assist in the establishment of new ATS entities across Africa by researching legal requirements and preparing necessary documentation.

  • Liaise with local authorities and legal experts to ensure proper compliance and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies (or a related field).

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar industry, with background experience in multi-jurisdictional legal environments being a plus.

  • Document Drafting: Experience with drafting legal documents and contracts is an advantage.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in both English and French is required.

  • Legal Research & Regulations: Strong background in legal research and understanding of international regulations is highly desirable.
