TsAfrika Catering Solutions is looking for a skilled Function Chef to join our Johannesburg team. As a Function Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering exceptional dishes for a variety of events, including corporate functions, weddings, and large gatherings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a dynamic and high-volume catering environment.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute high-quality meals for events, ensuring consistency and presentation standards

  • Coordinate with event planners and clients to meet menu requirements

  • Supervise kitchen staff during large functions to ensure smooth and efficient service

  • Manage kitchen operations during events, ensuring food is served on time and at optimal quality

  • Assist with menu planning and customization based on client preferences

  • Monitor inventory and ensure all supplies are stocked and readily available for functions

  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations

  • Provide guidance and support to junior chefs and kitchen staff

  • Handle any issues or changes during functions to ensure client satisfaction


✅ Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong culinary skills with a background in event or function catering

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple functions

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Creative with food presentation and menu development

  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage kitchen staff

  • Attention to detail with a focus on food quality and client satisfaction

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on function schedules


🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognized culinary qualification or relevant experience

  • At least 3 years of experience as a chef, preferably in function catering or large-scale events

  • Proven experience in managing catering teams and kitchen operations

  • Familiarity with food costing and menu planning is an advantage
