Job Overview:
The Maintenance Planner will play a critical role in maximizing operating profit and equipment reliability through effective planned maintenance. The role involves overseeing maintenance scheduling, ensuring the availability of resources, and driving continuous improvement in planning, scheduling, and maintenance activities for the client’s building and associated areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning and Execution:

Maximize operating profit by using planned maintenance where it is more effective than alternatives.

Maximize equipment reliability and availability by ensuring planned maintenance is carried out effectively.

Execute daily, weekly, weekend, and annual overhaul planning activities for all relevant building systems and equipment.

Develop and maintain maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
-
Review maintenance work required for Preventative Maintenance, Proactive Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement activities.

Establish cost and time estimates for planned maintenance work.
-
Ensure all parts, equipment, services, and documentation are readily available when needed for maintenance tasks.

Drive improvements in planning, scheduling, data management, and job reporting systems.
Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with maintenance stakeholders to ensure optimal scheduling of resources for production and maintenance.

Work with departmental leadership teams to ensure the effective execution of all maintenance activities.

Drive daily toolbox meetings to promote safety and effective communication within the team.

Ensure accurate and timely maintenance performance reporting.

Maintain a planning shift turnover report and manage maintenance planning fleet mod status.
Service Delivery and Safety:

Undertake allocated tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Report safety hazards or workplace injury/illness to the Maintenance Manager immediately.

Ensure that service delivery meets performance requirements, including SLAs and performance management.

Maintain an accurate record of all maintenance documentation, warranties, and licenses.

Ensure compliance with regulatory, health, and safety requirements.

Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure client needs are met.
Customer Focus:

Maintain a customer-focused approach to activities and collaborate with teams to improve operational efficiencies and performance.

Interact with clients to provide information and resolve any queries or concerns related to services.

Address client queries in a timely manner and escalate when necessary.

Follow through on escalated queries and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
Skills and Competencies:

Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, welding (TIG, MMA), and various other crafts. Familiarity with construction-related activities and functions.

Maintenance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of maintenance processes, health and safety regulations, and building systems (electrical, heating, etc.).

Customer Relations: Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Planning and Organization: Ability to plan, organize, and control work effectively. Proven track record in managing complex tasks and schedules.

Conflict Management: Ability to manage conflict and resolve client queries in a timely manner.

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with different teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Minimum: Grade 12.
-
Advantageous: Studying towards a valid Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or equivalent.

Trade Qualification: Electrical or Mechanical (minimum 5 years’ experience).
